Today, Grand Valley Power will reopen our lobby to the public. After being closed for 56 days, we are taking a significant step in returning to our normal way of life. As encouraging as this is, we still must remind each other that we're not done yet. COVID-19 is still a concern in our community and we must all do our part in flattening the curve. For GVP, the safety and well-being of our employees, members, and community is our top priority.
Our path forward includes the following:
Office hours will resume as normal – beginning Monday, May 11, we will resume our normal office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will follow the “Safer At Home” plan developed by Governor Polis, and we will continue to follow all other COVID-19 safety precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Mesa County Public Health Department.
Grand Valley Power will follow the requirements and best practices for reopening our office in effort to protect the health and safety of our members and employees.
You will see the following in our lobby:
- 6-foot distancing measures will be implemented.
- The use of face coverings or masks will be encouraged.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided at entrances and other high-traffic locations.
- The flow of people will be modified to minimize contacts.
- Signage on good hygiene practices will be posted.
- Payment keypads will be disinfected after each use.
- High traffic areas will be cleaned several times a day.
- In-person interactions will be minimized; visitors will be asked to call us first to discuss needs, whenever possible.
- Visitors will be asked to not enter our building, if symptomatic.
Disconnections for non-payment and late payment fees remain temporarily suspended. We urge all members to make every effort to keep their accounts current during the period when disconnections are suspended. If you anticipate problems paying your electric bill, please contact us so we can work together on a plan at (970) 242-0040.
To provide additional financial assistance to those of you that continue to be negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we do encourage you to apply to Grand Valley Power's Hometown Relief Fund. We will provide electric bill payment relief in the form of a $100 bill credit to members who need it most. Funds will be distributed as bill credits to those who qualify. If your application is approved, you will receive a one-time credit on your next monthly bill. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and are subject to approval and available funds. Please visit gvp.org/HometownRelief for more information.
Remember, you do not need to visit our office to receive outstanding service regarding your GVP account. You can conveniently manage your account, pay your bill and find ways to manage your energy usage online at www.gvp.org, or through our web and mobile app, SmartHub. You can also email us at gvp-info@gvp.org or by calling us (970) 242-0040.
Please stay safe and healthy. We will get through this together.
Sincerely,
Tom Walch
