Grand Valley Power’s Continuity Plan: Our Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
To Our Members
Like so many of you, we have spent the last several days and weeks learning about the coronavirus (COVID-19). For Grand Valley Power, under its Continuity of Operations Plan, the health and well-being for our employees, members and communities is our top priority while we continue the critical electric services that our communities rely on.
With this in mind, we will be closing our offices until further notice.
As always, we are committed to the safety and well-being of our workforce and the general public. As the electric supplier for over 18,000 households and businesses in Mesa County, we understand that we provide a critical service to the families and the communities we serve. GVP is preparing for all possible scenarios to ensure we have the right plans in place to protect the health and safety of our workforce and to seamlessly provide electric service to our members without interruption.
What We Are Doing
We are closely following the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) guidelines and recommendations from the Mesa County Health Department (MCHD) on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus. Our hope is that you will not experience any change in the service we provide you, but it is our responsibility to ensure our employees are able to provide you with electricity and other critical services when you need them. Practicing social distancing is the only proven method to do this and we are taking this action out of an abundance of caution.
Under the new plan, GVP operations will change as follows:
— Increasing cleaning and sanitation procedures including weekly facility decontamination.
— Educating and informing all employees on prevention and hygiene measures.
— Suspending access to nonessential personnel visits.
— Coordinating with local, state and federal entities.
— Limiting travel as necessary and conducting meetings virtually.
— Assessing our inventory and supply chain risks.
In addition to the following procedures above, Grand Valley Power has temporarily suspended nonpayment disconnections and waived late fees for members, and will continue to do so for any consumers facing adverse economic consequences during this crisis.
First and foremost, we are here for our members and we belong to the communities we serve. We ask that you contact us if you anticipate any difficulty paying your bill and we want to ensure we set you up on a payment arrangement that will work for you in the short-term and into the future.
You can call us Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm at 970-242-0040, and one of our member service representatives will be happy to assist you. We will all still be working; we will just be working remotely and with essential staff at the office.
What You Can Do
We strongly encourage our members to use Grand Valley Power’s SmartHub app and web portal or Pay Now for self-service 24/7 account access. This is the safest, most sanitary method to make a payment. It is also the most efficient way for Grand Valley Power to process payments. You are stepping up for the community when you use SmartHub, as you are helping contain the spread of the coronavirus. You are also helping your fellow GVP members by freeing up team members to take care of more critical tasks during this time.
You can access your accounts online or by using the SmartHub app at your convenience. Visit gvp.org/SmartHub or call us for help at 970-242-0040. If you have been directly impacted by COVID-19, and are in need of special assistance, please call us.
Alternatively, our drop boxes remain open, and you can send in your payment through mail. You can view all our ways to pay at gvp.org/ways-pay.
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation with the intent to re-open our offices for full service as soon as possible. For more information and GVP updates please visit continue to visit our website or follow our Facebook or Twitter page.
Sincerely,
Tom Walch
