Grand valley power hosts virtual food drive
to provide 18,000 meals to food bank of the rockies’ western slope branch
PALISADE, COLO. - (April 14, 2020) - Grand Valley Power is hosting a virtual food drive to help Food Bank of the Rockies' Western Slope Branch ensure men, women and children facing hunger in our Western Slope community have nourishing food during this challenging time, and into the future.
Grand Valley Power has set a goal to raise $4,500 – enough funds to provide one meal to represent every Grand Valley Power customer – 18,000 meals!
Food Bank of the Rockies’ Western Slope branch is experiencing more than double the requests for food. Everyone's help is needed now, more than ever. Funds raised through this virtual food drive will be designated to help Food Bank of the Rockies’ Palisade location, serve the Western Slope community.
“Grand Valley Power cooperative exists to provide safe, reliable, affordable energy to our 18,000 members, but equally important is our mission to enrich and empower the lives of the communities we serve. Concern for Community is one of our core cooperative principles that guides us. While focusing on our community needs, we realized that access to food and essential supplies is critical during this crisis. We’re proud to support and host the virtual food drive in concert with Food Bank of the Rockies so that every person who reaches out for help, can get it,” said Christmas Wharton, Grand Valley Power communications manager.
Virtual food drives are the most efficient and effective way to help during this pandemic. Every dollar helps provide four meals and all funds raised through this drive will be designated to help Food Bank of the Rockies serve the Western Slope community.
