GRAND VALLEY POWER HOSTING
GLOW HALLOWEEN EVENT FOR SAFETY
GRAND JUNCTION, CO.– (October 29, 2019) --- Grand Valley Power, an electric cooperative serving 19,000 consumers in Mesa County and surrounding areas, is hosting a free event called Glow Halloween – which focuses on safety and community-wide fun, on October 30 and 31.
The event is hosted at 845 22 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado, at Grand Valley Power’s main headquarters, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day. During the event, GVP will hand out free glowsticks, Halloween safety tips and of course, treats!
“Children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car on Halloween than on any other day of the year. Grand Valley Power is committed to the safety of our communities. All members of your family participating in trick-or-treating should carry a flashlight or glowsticks during the evening and costumes should be brightly colored or have reflective tape,” said Christmas Wharton, Communications Specialist at Grand Valley Power.
Before trick-or-treating, talk to children and teens about these additional safety procedures:
- An adult should accompany children under 12
- Remind solo-going tweens and teens to put away their phones and watch out for cars
- Travel only in familiar, well-lit areas
- Never enter a stranger’s home
- Agree on a specific time to return home
- Review pedestrian and traffic safety rules
“We belong to the communities we serve, and we want to encourage people to have a really safe and enjoyable holiday,” said Wharton. For additional information about the event, visit gvp.org/hometown-partnerships.
